Does Peanut AI require an internet connection for dictation?

Yes. AskElephant currently requires Peanut AI to have an active internet connection for dictation and text-to-speech read-back. Audio and text are processed through cloud services during these workflows, then returned to the desktop experience so people can keep writing, editing, and reviewing without switching tools.
How it works
- Connect to the internet before starting dictation or read-back sessions
- Peanut sends audio/text to cloud processing services for transcript and playback generation
- Continue editing with snippets and dictionary controls after output is returned
Limitations & tradeoffs
- Core dictation and text-to-speech workflows are not currently available offline
